I rethink traditional media and create objects with minds of their own.

GloboStats

GloboStats

There’s a certain fascination right now with interactive maps thanks in part to Google Maps and its ease of use. When I created GloboStats, I thought I’d share my take on the idea, creating a world map that isn’t limited to computer screens or day-old data and instead jumps out in lobbies, entertaining visitors with a visualization of activities as they occur.

Industrial Media, a trendy web shop based out of Ottawa, expressed interest in an implementation of GloboStats that could show off the amount of worldwide traffic to websites they created while visually keeping with the playful style of their company branding. Industrial Media’s clients can now watch as the traffic streams from across the world into their new websites — all in real-time.

Malleable Music

Malleable Music

Music is only an escape from the outside world as long as the music isn’t bringing the world right back in. Malleable Music is a portable device that creates a musical score based on the wearer’s surroundings and emotions.

The prototype, housed within a wearable backpack, creates its musical score from a variety of factors: Heart rate, movement, light and noise.

The end result was a personal score to life. When the wearer runs up stairs, the pace of the music increases and rhythmic sections are added. When the wearer creeps slowly in the shadows, the musical mood would become dark with a steady rhythm. The wearer became the conductor of the music though they were at times controlled in turn by the music itself, creating an experience of struggling against a feedback loop.
